love moves in exciting ways

When the young ones are inspired with fashion, one should not hinder their growth. One should nurture that passion with love and guidance. That's what I Love You in Cubao X has been doing; the store has been a home to young--very, very young--talents who have a knack for creation. Young designers Geof Gonzales and Mike Lavarez have accumulated a following by being under the spotlight of Love, and now the light shines upon designer Willar Mateo and photographer Foxe/Nixon Marquez. The two collaborated on an exhibit that opened last weekend and here are some of the results:

Trashion is made with passion, riiiigghhht? A passion that grows is valuable and the experience that comes with it will never be replaced. That, Starlet's friend, is the heart of fashion---a vortex that keeps moving forward and doesn't look back, making the past gold and the future exciting.

Foxe and Willar, keep it up! Your tita Super Starlet thinks you're doing a great job!

At para maisingit lang: Super Starlet went through the paparazzi photos from the event and Super Starlet looooooves this pic:

Stylists Shahani Gania and RCXY Bautista sandwich the lovely Miz Asela Tagarao, and they are all project na project! Loveets!

best in set design: Atang

These pictures don't do fucking justice!

Super Starlet missed the run, the re-run, and the other re-run of the very much successful musical/play Atang: Isang Dulang May Musika, a production of Dulaang UP. Its stars Ayen Laurel as Atang dela Rama, the very first Filipino film actress, who also believed that the arts is for everyone.

...and the poster!

Sadly, Super Starlet could only browse the pictures and have Starlet's breathe taken away by the set design. The set design! Oh, the set design was all fucking LACE! Production designer Tuxqs Rutaquio deserves a pat on the back, a hug and some dry-humping from Super Starlet for creating something so fucking inspired! The huge, white lace and chiffon structure was simply too beautiful. These are the things that should inspire fashion. No wait-- these are the things that DO inspire fashion. If only Super Starlet could grab those pictures in Ayen Laurel's Facebook account (Super Starlet only got to peep), but alas, Ayen and Starlet are not Facebook friends (does Ayen know about Super Starlet's intimate past with hubby Franco Laurel? Eep!).

Once Super Starlet is able to grab those photos, Super Starlet will gladly share! Perhaps throw in some paparazzi photos of those who went all the way to University of the Philippines to watch: Imelda Marcos, Lea Salonga, at marami pang iba. Kaloka, riiiiiggghhht?

Congrats to Dulaang UP for the very successful staging! Direk Alex Cortez, playwright Floy Quintos, costume designer Eric Pineda, and to the amazing cast and crew---a hug and a dry-hump from Super Starlet for doing real good!

ladies who will lunch

Super Starlet is no lesbo; Starlet will date no girl. But if ever an invitation to lunch with The Sweet Life's Ange Dela Cuz comes across, Super Starlet will surely go!

Ange in Puey Quinones

Super Starlet first met the then-17-years young lass and her delightful cupcakes in designer Puey Quinones birthday bash a couple years back. Of course, if you're an underage vixen peddling sinful delights in a designer's soiree, you automatically catch Super Starlet's attention: Ange Dela Cruz is one to look out for. And her Bailey's-laced cupcakes are to die for, too!

The cupcakes were a hit in Puey's birthday bash this year as well

The chic cupcakes make their way in the fashion crowd. At designer Kate Torralba's Greenbelt store's anniversary party

Homage to an icon: Ate Cecile Zamora Van Straten on a stick

Fast forward to present: who in the chic circle hasn't tasted The Sweet Life? 'Nuff, said, riiiiggghhht? Marie Antoinette is a cupcake laced with Tequila Rose, while Chanel takes the form of a moist chocolate cupcake with valrhona buttercream. Tres chic, no?

But this really got Super Starlet excited for a girl-on-girl lunch out with the Lady Cupcake herself: her blog. The lovely Miz Dela posts some really interesting dining experiences (here and abroad) that makes Super Starlet wanna forget all forms of diet. The girl has taste, pun pun pun!

And while Super Starlet can only imagine what that great lunch date with Miz Dela would be like, Super Starlet is sure of what comes after: really fantastic dessert--designer cupcakes! :)

the future is always an amazing sight to behold

Have you decided what to wear for the upcoming Jake Galvez exhibit? Super Starlet hasn't, but Starlet has been researching for inspiration. One of the looks that Super Starlet could see herself in for the upcoming event can be found in this editorial entitled Alien Dolls, photogtraphed by Paco Peregrin for Avenue Illustrated magazine.

Fantastic editorial, `no? Kudos to Spanish stylist Lewis Amarante for the great job! Guurrrl, ang galing-galing mo na ha! Super Starlet can see herself working it in looks one, two and three. Coffee, riiiiiigghhht? ;)

save the date!

How fabulous could this mash-up of beautiful faces be?

Put internationally-acclaimed actress Alessandra de Rossi, fashion-inspiration Jujiin Samonte, celebrity stylist RCXY Bautista, Young Designers' Guild president Louis Claparols, NY-based model Brent Chua, editor Tim Yap, and everyone whose pictures appear above all together in one exhibit, and the answer to that question is: Very!

Makeup artist Jake Galvez brings together a unique and extraordinary mix of individuals in his upcoming exhibit that explores the two sides of beauty.

Save the date, folks! It's on August 14 at Fiamma, Jupiter St, Makati.

Super Starlet sighting alert!

cameron diaz

Super Starlet has always dreamed of having a Cameron Diaz so she could also sing and dance to the Penis Song:

Cameron is on the cover of V magazine #60, photographed by Mert and Marcus.

Kumareng Cameron has always been a fun, fun gal!

manila design week 2009; more! more! more!

There's more--a whole lot more!-- to the upcoming Manila Design Week 2009 than what Super Starlet earlier reported. Here's what Super Starlet gathered from A.T.B.P.--"Everything and anything Graphic Design in all media will be featured – from print and publication design to web and motion graphics, its application in photography, advertising and the fashion world. Other highlights are student projects and design masterpieces by the Who’s Who in Graphic Design. It doesn’t matter what form it takes on as long as it’s Graphic Design."

Tarush! It's going to be a design-orgy like no other. Join? Join! For more details, visit http://maniladesignweek.com/

must-own 2010: gold sandals!

Trends may come and go, but Super Starlet's suitors never cease.

Super Starlet only entertains suitors who are always in the latest trends, and for next year's batch of handsome hopefuls, Super Starlet would like to see them in gold sandals--a must-have for Spring/Summer 2010.

Gold gladiators by John Galliano

Balenciaga's gold and white slip-ons

Givenchy--the high-cuts look fun!

But the real winner is the studded Givenchy pair worn by Brazilian boy toy Jesus Luz:

Yum!

simplicity is beauty

Sometimes, the simplest concept is the best way to shoot fashion. Super Starlet likes the way this freestyle shoot by Maan Palmiery cleanly captures the way these dresses by Veejay Floresca, Eric delos Santos and Patrick Galang are worn and fall on a woman's body.

No severe poses, no complicated lighting, no heavy accessories and thick makeup. And it works! Beautiful is beautiful and Super Starlet is Super Starlet!

That's all.
